SA shines light on black spots
The Federal Government has allocated $5.8 million to improve 28 black spots on South Australian roads. The funding comes from the $500 million Black Spot Project, which is being rolled out over five years nationwide and will help improve Australian roads for all users.

Parisian children taught to share
Velib bikeshare in Paris is set launch a fleet of bikes for kids. It has 300 new bikes in four different models, including balance bikes and bikes with training wheels. Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo hopes the scheme will encourage youngsters to ride and grow sustainable transport into the future. She said: “P’tit Vélib takes another step in opening up our city to all the children who live there or visit it. Introducing the smallest children to this most ecologically friendly and convivial mode of transportation will help make the Paris of the future more open to clean, shared and low-carbon transport.”
Third time’s a charm
The 2014 iconic Race Across America has been won by Austrian cyclist Christoph Strasser. It’s Strasser’s third RAAM win, but this time he also broke his own world record as the fastest rider in the race’s history, completing the 3,020 mile (4860.2km) course in 7 days, 15 hours and 56 minutes. Champion effort.
Retirees roll on
Millennials have strength in numbers in the bike lane, but while they may be the largest group on the roads, data from the US Department of Transportation’s National Household Travel Survey indicates that the biggest cycling growth rate is in retirees. The survey also found that cycling rates had significantly increased across all age groups since 1995.
