Bet you won’t!

Time to tell your friends, family and colleagues that you’re up for the challenge. Make a bet with a workmate that you’ll ride to work all month; register for Ride to Work; make it a fundraising challenge; Facebook your progress.

There’s nothing like a public commitment to cement your motivation. The act of telling someone else makes it more real to you too.

So cancel your monthly public transport ticket, lose the car keys and perfect your system for riding to work with the tips from www.ride2work.com.au.

Now, for riding on the road…

Tip – make eye contact

The most effective technique for riding with other traffic is to make eye contact with drivers and other riders. This is especially helpful for merging and turn taking at intersections, such as roundabouts.

Be clear and assertive about where you are going by indicating, using your bell and calling out when necessary. Be prepared in case a driver, pedestrian or other rider hasn’t seen or heard you.

This post is for day two of Ride On‘s June riding challenge.
