First Look: Orbea Denna Gravel eRoad Adventure Bike

Orbea have unveiled its latest all-road and adventure machine, the Denna, a next-generation gravel e-bike designed to push the boundaries.
With gravel-tuned ‘Rider Synergy’ assistance – a mode the company say will enhance traction over looser terrain – the bike teases the technological trends we can expect to see over the coming years.
At the heart of the Denna is Orbea’s RS Gen2 RC system, a refined motor firmware designed specifically for gravel riding. This system integrates with Shimano’s EP mid-drive motors, offering what Orbea say is ‘a natural, intuitive feel’ with up to 85 Nm of torque.
Two pre-configured riding modes – Gravel and Gravel+ – are said to help riders adapt to different conditions.
‘Gravel mode optimises power for smoother terrain and high-cadence pedaling, while Gravel+ boosts torque for looser surfaces, maximising grip and control at lower cadences,’ say Orbea. ‘Riders can also fine-tune the assistance levels via Shimano’s E-Tube app for a fully personalised experience.’

Optimised Geometry and Versatility
Gravel means different things to different riders, and the Denna looks to be a versatile allrounder. The frameset has clearance for up to 50c tyres and geometry that features a longer top tube, optimised chainstay length, lower bottom bracket, and size-specific fork trail. This, say Orbea, delivers a stable and agile ride across varied terrain.
Extended Range, Smarter Features
With Orbea’s 420Wh battery, riders can gain up to 3,500m of elevation in Eco mode, and the optional 210Wh Range Extender for more distance. The left-brake lever control allows for quick assistance adjustments, while the optional Shimano EN600 display provides real-time ride data. Garmin users can pair their device for battery and motor monitoring.
Built for Comfort and Endurance
Denna’s OMR carbon frame and fork balance stiffness, strength, and compliance. The frame flexes at key points to absorb road vibrations while maintaining pedaling efficiency. Mounting points for fenders and water bottles add practicality, and riders can fine-tune fit and comfort with MyO customization options, including different handlebars, stems, and seatposts.
Orbea Australia advise stock will be arriving over coming weeks, with local pricing to be advised shortly. Ride On have requested a review bike and look forward to riding the Denna soon.
