Gravel & Flannel Festival Returns To Esk + Ride On Reader Discount

How does a weekend of gravel riding and good times in Queensland’s gravel heartland sound? Warm days, quiet roads and sensational gravel riding with like-minded others. It sounds great to us!
Prepare your gravel bike and dust off the flannelette shirt, the 2025 Gravel & Flannel Festival, proudly presented by Curve Cycling will be held in Esk on July 4, 5 & 6.
Mike Tomalaris, broadcasting legend, keen gravel rider and host of the event, says he is pumped to be heading to South East Queensland with the gravel bike and microphone.
“I don’t think people realise just how good the Queensland gravel scene is,” he told Ride On.
“And the climate is ideal, especially at this time of year. Esk is on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, Australia’s longest rail trail at 161km, and there’s a strong gravel culture which is only getting bigger and better each year,” he added.
Tomalaris said that Gravel & Flannel has the potential to develop into one of the major off-road events of the year, “it can be up there with Gears & Beers plus the Beechworth Granite Classic,” he added.

“There are plenty of big events in the southern states, and Queensland deserves an annual event like this where people can enjoy riding safely off-road. I’ve seen how (organiser) Kent Beasley of the Gravel Cartel operates; he runs a slick event, and this one is going to be sensational.
“These events are a lot of fun,” added Tommo. “They are quirky, the gravel operators don’t take themselves too seriously, it’s like a three-day muster for bike riders.
“Plus, it’s on over the start weekend of the Tour de France – there will be a lot to talk about from the world of cycling each night after the gravel riding. And, with my 27 years of experience, I’ll have a lot of stories to tell.”

The 2025 Gravel & Flannel Festival presented by Curve Cycling will feature an on-site café, food and drink vendors, Curve demo bikes, and bike-related workshops to keep everyone entertained. Plus, Mike Tomalaris presenting Tour de France talk and more. Ride On will be there and we home to see you in Esk.
