Velo-city Global 2014: Friday 30 May

Bicycle Network CEO Craig Richards is in Adelaide for the Velo-city Global 2014 conference this week and reporting daily highlights here on the Ride On blog. See his summary from Thursday.

I didn’t make it to the conference until mid-morning. No, it wasn’t a debut hangover for this non-drinker, just taking advantage of the rare chance for discussions with other bike advocacy groups. I had some great conversations about how we can work together to get more people riding bikes.

The conference moved to the Adelaide Town Hall today which is very fancy. Here’s my best effort at some artistic photos.

Velo-city 2014 wrapped up before lunchtime with lots of thank you speeches, an announcement of the formation of the World Cycling Alliance (to focus on global bike issues) and the handover to Velo-city 2015 in Nantes, France.

My conference summary: city populations are exploding and those that are thriving are providing awesome facilities for bike riders. Now we just have to get things moving faster in Australia and not forget about the regional areas.  If enough of us write and ask Please,Tony we could just lead the world.
